About Joan:
Joan Kuczek trained in Michigan, receiving her certification as a myomassologist from the International Myomassethics Federation in 1992.
She received her Ohio license as a massotherapist and National Certification as a Therapeutic Bodyworker in 2001.
Continuing education includes neuromuscular and trigger point work; myofascial and positional releases; myoskeletal work, massage for seriously ill, Hospice training, MotherMassage® (bodyCushion™ can be used during 3rd trimester for face down comfort), Hot Stone (therapeutic or relaxing), Raindrop, Myo and Movement (June'17 in conjunction with Camino Walk in Spain), and Manual Lymph Drainage and Lymphedema.
She is also one of the few Certified Instructors in Ohio for Baby’s First Massage®, a class specifically designed for parents/caregivers of newborns, and taught at the Parma Health Education Center. The booklet, jojoba sample, and techniques can also be used for babies/toddlers.
In 2011, she completed an 140 hr. certification program, approved by the National Lymphedema Network, to be a Lymphatic Therapist, learning how to perform a variety of manual lymphatic draingage (MLD) techniques including re-routing of lymph flow and compression bandaging for lymphedema patients. MLD uses special techniques for head and neck issues like sinus congestion and headaches; post-surgical swelling (cosmetic, liposuction, BBL, joint replacements, etc); general full body detox; and pain/inlammation reduction. Advanced MLD was taken Oct'17.
With passion to disseminate the benefits of massage, she has developed and delivers presentations to organizations and corporations. The most popular is Self-Help Massage Techniques given at Parma Health Education Center, libraries, Corporations. A colorful powerpoint on The Lymphatic System and Lymphedema includes 3-D visuals and is customized for medical professionals as well as community support groups to increase awareness of using manual techniques to control pain and swelling.
Prior to her massage education, Joan received her Bachelors in Business Administration from Cleveland State University and her Masters in Business from Baldwin Wallace College. She is married and has two sons.
